The Mars Click is a great budget option. Despite its diminutive size it packs a considerable luminescent punch thanks to two super-bright LEDs, which also give 180 degree visibility. It's easier to attach to conventional frames with stretchy rubber arms and the on-off button, the entire unit lens, is an instant classic. Coupled with Blackburn's no-quibble lifetime warranty and superb price this is a great piece of kit.

The Reflex has one high-power centre LED and four 5mm LEDs around it meaning it does pump out a high volume of light, and it gives up to 120 hours of use. There are also five fixed modes, from fixed to flashing. It works well in urban environments where there are many other light distractions for drivers, and the centre LED performs in more rural spots too.

The battery can be mounted either at the front of the bike as usual with the splitter taking power to the rear light, or vice versa with the battery running under the saddle or on the seatpost, thus leaving your bars that little bit more clutter free.
The lamp (even on max setting) takes minimal power from the battery, only affecting burn times by 6-20 minutes depending on mode used. The neat QR bayonet fitting securely attaches the lamp to the mount and releases quickly and easily to allow speedy removal from the bike when not in use.
