  • Campagnolo Athena Black 11 Speed Rear Derailleur

The Athena rear derailleur has the same geometry as the top-of-the-range 11-speed models, and absolute precision is the result.

The outer plate wraps around the upper and lower bodies in aluminium, eliminating any possible play and making the overall structure of the rear derailleur extremely stiff. The result is fast and precise shifting in all the gears.

The pulleys are specially designed to reduce vibrations and make the drivetrain perfectly quiet.

    - Upper to lower pulley-axle: 55 mm
    - Aluminium outer plate
    - Parallelogram with 11s geometry
    - Die-cast aluminium upper body
    - Lightened special rubber pulleys reduces friction
    - Single cage version: Flexibility of use with all the sprocket combinations
    - Weight: 209g

  • About Campagnolo
  • Campagnolo S.r.l. designs, produces and distributes high-end components for racing bikes. It is present in over 30 countries with five branches and nine agencies. The main facility is located in Vicenza and employs about 690 workers. Campagnolo S.r.l. was founded in Vicenza in 1933 by Commendatore Tullio Campagnolo. The company soon expanded, focusing on the three fundamental concepts that would also characterise its future - performance, technological innovation, and quality of products and services. Products in carbon fibre are constantly being created as a glance at the new collection reveals: cranksets, front and rear derailleurs, integrated controls, headsets, seat posts / pins, bottle cages and high and low-profile wheels all made from carbon fibre.
  • About derailleurs rear
  • Rear Gear Selection Help Derailleur systems were designed and built as far back as the late 1800s. A French bicycle tourist, writer and cycling promoter Paul De Vivie, invented a two speed rear derailleur in 1905 which he used on forays into the Alps. In recent years Campagnolo and Shimano are the two main manufacturers of derailleurs, with Campagnolo only making road cycling derailleurs and Shimano making both road and offroad. American manufacturer SRAM has been an important third, specializing in derailleurs for mountain bikes, and in 2006 they introduced a drivetrain system for road bicycles.
