Great concept but not yet fit for purpose
This is a great concept with fantastic potential but urgently needs further development. I had a few issues with battery life to begin with as it only lasted 3.5 hours so I had to disable wifi and bluetooth and restrict video recording to manual only so the battery would last a typical Sunday club run.
Power zones auto-calc well but HR zones are calibrated using the very outdated method of %ages of max, rather than lactate threshold, and can't be input manually so they're unusable.
These are relatively minor issues but when the mounting lugs broke off and it came adrift then the trouble really started. I was already in contact with Xplova UK who replaced the unit without quibble and didn't seem surprised at what happened. It's supplied with a lanyard for attachment to the handlebars and it's now clear why! A few days later the replacement failed in exactly the same way. It's a heavy device and the mount is at the rear so the weight is cantilevered off the front and it vibrates on coarse road surfaces [common in Northumberland]. Taking another replacement was pointless as further failure seemed inevitable.
Before the second failure I recorded a 30 sec video of a hare running not far in front and was looking forward to viewing it on my pc but with the vibration and low definition all I could see, with difficulty, was an indistinct blur. Registration plates are usually, but not always, legible.
It's such a shame as this could be a class leader with a little common sense development but for now I'd advise not to buy, at least not without accepting the risk of trouble and hassle. Having said that, Xplova and Ribble did what they could for me so service is fine.
