Excellent little widgetSure to taking part in a multi day tour I needed something to track progress that didn't necessitate getting my phone out of my pocket every 5 minds it killing the phone battery. This did exactly that, keeping an eye on distance travelled meant that I was able to tell if I'd missed a turn out how far to the next town when combined with some basic route notes.
Set up was easy, I just paired it with my phone using the cateye app and everything worked as it should. Connection between phone and device has been solid and stable at all times. Uploads to strava are easy too.
Battery usage just from the tracking is about 50% of what it was using the strava app and the ride accuracy using the cateye app is just as good. I suspect it may be better than strava as you can set altitude reference points to assist the GPS.
The bracket is easy to install and easy to change between bikes in 2 mins without tools and scrolling through the functions is as easy as it can be.
Customising the display and phone notifications is straightforward too.
If you don't need turn by turn navigation then buy this, especially at Ribble's price! -
Intermittent failuresShould be a great low priced bluetooth display for speed, cadence and heartrate. However, it fails intermittently when trying to use all 3 sensors at the same time. When sync is lost it can take from 30 seconds to 1 hour to resync. This makes it basically unusable. I am using my Strada Smart without the heartrate sensor, until my Polar M450 arrives. I had high hopes for this device, as I don't need navigation, and can use my phone for recording rides. Oh well.

Hi. How does the unit cope when riding in areas with no orb weak data coverage? As if phone is not able to get GPS info then it won't be able to feed the cateye. No?
Thanks db -
Thanks for getting in touch.
Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) coverage is different from mobile phone signal, and alot more reliable with coverage.
