My cycling wardrobe is virtually exclusively Endura, the only exception being our club jersey. In fact I am still riding in a 10 year old LS jersey because it's still brilliant. I have bought Endura because their combination of materials, cut, construction and day long comfort pads I have found to be the best - I'm 67 next month and a lifelong cyclist. Plus they are made in the UK.
Reviewing my winter wardrobe in April (as I moved into summer kit) I took the opportunity to replace a pair of worn bib knickers with the above at a discounted price. I wore them for the first time last week on the club training ride and was really disappointed. Hoping that they just needed riding in I washed them and rode them again for another 120k ride at the weekend. They showed no improvement.
There are two major related issues:
1. the size of the leg opening and the silicon gripper on the legs - the size of the leg opening is just too big, the grippers simply can't work and they bunch up behind the knee.
2. the flat lock seams that work great in lightweight Lycra form prominent seams in the heavier roubaix fabric - they stand out, they are not flat. Combined with the bunching they rub like mad behind the knee, especially the outer seam, making each turn of the pedal uncomfortable.
A secondary more minor issue is that the pad is stiff and large and sticks out like a little shelf at the rear. Not uncomfortable, just unsightly.
