Go to pedal for any new bike build! These are excellent pedals if you know how to maintain them. Most pairs don't need any fiddling, but some will require proper pre-loading of the nice sealed bearings; a good time to add a some extra quality grease. These are probably one of the lightest pedals out there, and at a super price. At 200+ lbs, they feel great under-foot.

Bargain, quality pedalsI've bought these again, having had the same previously. They lasted me about 5 years of commuting daily through the best and worst of the weather that the west of Scotland has to offer. The even broke a few years ago (due to my error in reassembly following a regrease, I hasten to add), when a small piece broke off the housing, but I reassembled and they've run smooth with no issues since. I've just repurchased because I literally wore out the pedal body. Therefore, top marks for durability of the bearings, robustness, weatherproofing and all-round value. Chapeau, Exustar!

Light+. -+/-Bearings ?!First, the axle is not as in the picture. The axle is painted black and without the possibility to used a traditional pedal wrench. Therefore, you'll need a 6mm hex wrench.
Second, the bearing are initially very far from smooth. Hopefully, it will improve with use (usually the case with newly packed bearings).
Third, as in previous evaluation one of the axle could be unscrewed by hand. Therefore, if you buy the pedals, buy the following compatible tool available @ribblecycles for a less than 3$ -
the Shimano Spd Axle Removal Tool TLPD40. You'll thank me for it.
In conclusion, if the bearings become significantly smoother with use, its a great purchase for the price 5*. Time will tell, meanwhile it's 3* overall.
