Ribble Buying Guide - Mountain Bikes

If off-road is your thing and you’re keen to explore without limits, then a mountain bike is the bike for you.  With suspension forks and tyres with aggressive tread these bikes are designed to cope well with loose surfaces and mud.

Hard tail bikes are as they sound – they have suspension at the front, but are rigid at the back.  Suspension at the front not only aids comfort when riding on rough ground, but also provides more control and grip – giving the rider more confidence.  Keep the rear end rigid helps to keep the weight of these bikes down and makes them more efficient to pedal.

Commonplace on mountain bikes now are disc brakes.  Kept well out of the way of mud, these provide reliable stopping power in all conditions.
