Yes. The bike is supplied with a starter kit, which includes a set of flat platform pedals for use with regular footwear.

The conveniently situated iWoc trio handlebar-mounted control unit allows you to switch between assistance levels and check the remaining battery charge without removing your hands from the bars or eyes from the road ahead.

Simply press the handlebar-mounted control button once to check the remaining battery capacity, which is displayed using a simple traffic light system: White = 75% capacity or more remaining, Green = 50-75%, Amber = 25-50%, Red = 15-25%, Slow Red Flash = 10-15%, and Rapid Red Flash = 10% or less remaining. You can also keep track of the remaining battery life using the MAHLE SmartBike Systems companion app.

All our electric bikes are pedal-assisted models (pedelecs) and always require rider input.

There’s no need to worry; being a pedal-assisted model means you are always in full control. When a power assist level is selected the motor simply provides a little extra boost whilst you pedal and does not take over.

No. Pedal-assisted electric bikes don't require holding a valid driver’s licence, paying any road tax or taking out insurance.

To charge the battery, you simply plug the bike into a household power socket using the supplied charger and cable. (The optional range extender can also charge the main battery whilst you are on the move).

The electric components used on our e-bikes are IP54 rated. They can be used in inclement weather conditions and are protected against splashing, but not against full immersion or when subjected to pressurised water from a hose pipe or jet wash. When transporting the bike outside of a vehicle, a waterproof cover should be utilised to protect the electronic components from water damage during such transportation. As with any bike, we recommend thoroughly cleaning and drying the bike after any wet weather ride to ensure the peak performance of your bike.

All e-bikes can be purchased through all major Cycle to Work scheme providers. The government has even abolished the £1000 limit, making obtaining an e-bike on Cycle to Work more beneficial than ever.

The MAHLE X35 power assist system provides assistance up to 15 mph, at which point (by law, as with all e-bikes in the UK) the assistance cuts out. If you drop back below 15 mph, the system will re-engage until you turn it off.

The battery range of the Hybrid AL e depends on several factors, including rider weight, route profile and temperature. A rider of 90 kg on a varied route, including climbs, descents and flats, can expect an approximate range of up to 60 miles. An optional range extender is also available for all our e-bikes, effectively doubling the bike's available range.

The Hybrid AL e includes integrated frame mounts for a rear pannier rack.

The MAHLE SmartBike system requires a bolt-on fitting rear wheel; the front is an M12 x 120 mm x 1.5 mm thru axle.

The battery can be accessed via the bottom bracket. To facilitate this removal, the press-fit bottom bracket must first be removed. We recommend that a professional mechanic perform this task.

The battery can reach up to 500 charging cycles while retaining up to 90% of its capacity, as long as its care and maintenance are adequate. Disconnect the cable to the rear wheel motor by unclipping the connector on the chainstay. Then, use an 8 mm Allen key to loosen the nuts on the rear axle, and reverse the process when the puncture has been repaired.
