      1. Ribble price makes this hard to beat for 1" + light + looks
For a retro build this is a fitting piece and you get modern sealed bearings so little impact from the elements.

Ribble's pic shows it as a brushed greyish appearance but in reality it is quite silver. Not polished, but very much matching most "milky" silver of a most quill stems.

one caveat, as another reviewer stated: this comes with a French lock ring which is bizarre. It's English standard threaded. The aluminum of the lock ring is so soft that it is literally a 2 min job to file the french style flat into and english style key.

But Ribble, what's up with that?

      2. Good Headset
Historically this was one of the better headsets of the '80s. It was known for its use of roller bearings rather than ball bearings and also for its lightness. My original one lasted the life of the bike untouched in all weather, race and training conditions. It has been updated with the use of cartridge. I have now purchased this for a retro restoration being period correct. The only downside is they come with a French lock washer and unusable on most steerer tubes. Alternative is to not use one (most do this) or source a keyed washer from an old headset.
