For maximum off road capability we have chosen the Sram Apex 1x groupset and Mavics Aksium 650b wheels. The lack of front derailleur means that it eliminates any chance of front mech failure due to the mech being clogged up with mud. The 650b wheels are perfect for wider tyres ensuring great grip and traction when off road.

CGR Al Blue.
The order process was very efficient, and we were kept informed throughout. The bike looks fantastic, and is very comfortable to ride. First time with clip-less pedals, but no issues and will not go back to flats. We went with the single front chainring, and the gears are exceptional. Cannot fault the bike at all.
Wow. What a revelation.
I've been entirely a roadie, but increasingly been liking some path and hill riding in the last year, so was looking for a relatively inexpensive drop bar set up where I could still bomb along (a bit) as well as taking the paths less travelled.
A friend of mine suggested looking at Ribble, which I did for the CGR AL. 3 weeks later (and a upgrade to SRAM Apex) and I'm zipping through Epping Forest no bother, and keeping up with my road chums on the way back.
It's a cracking build for the money - really tight and well set up, and the more relaxed geometry and set up means very little vibration, but if you want to put your legs into it, it jumps ahead. I was a bit sceptical of 1x initially but now I get it - makes a lot of sense off road and the flared bars give you tons of control.
