HOW TO BUY
PERFECT COMBO OF SRAM APEX 1X & ALUMINIUM

For maximum off road capability we have chosen Srams Apex 1x groupset and Mavics Aksium 650b wheels. The lack of front derailleur means that it eliminates any chance of front mech failure due to the mech being clogged up with mud. The 650b wheels are perfect for wider tyres ensuring great grip and traction when off road.

Ribble CGR AL Blue - Sram Apex 1x Customer Reviews

I fitted the handlebars and also checked things like the crank, rotors wheel bolts and everything was tight and greased. I then fitted bottle holder, Garmin and saddle bag and decided I had enough time for a quick spin.

I headed off on my local MTB loop, this picks up the road from the house down to the old railway line which is now a nice gravel track into the local town. This changes to a cycle path following the river out to the estuary. All gravel. I noticed the difference in speed from the MTB straight away but also liked the comfort the larger volume tyres gives over a cross bike. It was relatively dry so the WTB Horizons performed well, even in the bit of mud it seemed stable.

I picked up the sea wall and followed this alng for a few miles and then cut off for the full on climb home for the next 5 miles. Average speed seemed good on the way back and the bike spun along nicely. The bike is a bit more twitchy on the road but on gravel it feels better.

I finished my ride in a quicker than normal time, downloaded to Strava and had 10 PB's and a top ten. Considering my current fitness I was very happy with that.

Since then I have done a commute and again im loving the ride. It is ticking that box that I can use it to commute or do an weekend road ride but if I see a fun bit of gravel, or interesting trail I can nip off and explore.
