The bike: Ribble Endurance SL Disc, hereafter refered to as 'Our Brenda'.
Who doesn't enjoy the day when the huge cardboard box arrives at your home with your new bike enclosed. The good news was to be had even before opening the box, it was light and it wasn't damaged. The bike was beautifully and safely wrapped and packaged by Sarah, thank you.
Ribble had courteously forwarded an email advising how to unpack and assemble my new pride and joy. So before my untouched brew had chance to go cold, the bars, seat post and pedals were affixed and I was ready to go.
I'd opted to go for a custom paint scheme and had prepared myself for an okay but not outstanding finish. Doh! The fade is first class as is the whole paint finish. The gears were set up spot-on and didn't need any tweaking. I was very happy!
The first outing for Our Brenda revealed a creaky crank and seat post, but all else was good. Second outing with all creaks illiminated and Our Brenda was flying; slick gear-change from the 501 'set and a comfy ride provided by the carbon frame and seat post and assisted by the Continental 28mm tyres which all help when riding on Yorkshires heavy roads. I haven't used the 501 disc brakes in earnest yet, but they already give me a level of confidence not acheived from my previous (501) rim brakes.
All in all I am delighted with the level of service I've received, especially given all the current (CVD 19) restrictions. I can't fault the bike, she looks and rides wonderfully.
The main reason for a new bike was to have disc brakes, the main reason to go with Ribble was their custom build facility and especially the bespoke paint option. This allowed me to have exactly the bike I wanted. I've previously gone all-Italian (Bianchi and Pinarello) but I am more than happy (apart from being from Yorkshire) in buying this quality bike from Lancashire. Don't be blinded by the 'great value' tag, it is just a great bike.
If my early rides with Our Brenda are anything to go by, I'm in for a crackin' summer. Thank you Ribble,
Bike is incredible, had one problem on first ride of the gear levers not being tightened so on the first bump they dropped down - wasn’t a problem as easy to fix with a Alan key - and should have checked myself before heading out for the first time but I wasn’t expecting it to happen as normally they are tightened
