WHO IS THE
ENDURANCE SL DISC FOR?
With its impeccable performance, versatility and a multitude of wheel, component and finishing kit options the Endurance SL and SL R Series can be fine-tuned for all riders of all levels of experience and ability.
The serious racer whether Elite or local hero will appreciate the frames stiffness and power transfer. The built-in aerodynamic tech, builds tipping the scales below the UCI weight limit and disc and caliper brake options mean the Endurance SL platform offers a performance advantage in all race situations.
The Endurance rider will benefit from the race bike attributes designed into the frame and will also see gain from the comfort-enhancing and fatigue-reducing features ensuring that they can go further, higher and quicker whether all day Epic or Weekend Gran Fondo.
Fitness and Leisure riders can experience the feeling you only get from a high-end race bike but with the geometry and fit required to achieve a comfortable and efficient riding position. The platform's comfort, stability, handling, and braking performance will inspire confidence making the Endurance SL the perfect partner as you develop your riding ability. Ride further, comfortably with less fatigue, make light work of hills, as you progress to experience longer rides over more challenging terrain.
THE SL DISC
The SL Disc frameset is manufactured from a carefully selected blend of Toray’s T1000 and T800 carbon layered to an exacting specification using an advanced monocoque mould technology incorporating an EPS inner core system which ensures complete consistency of the structural integrity of the fibres and resin throughout the frame. This system also eliminates excess material on the inside of the frame.
Aerodynamics have been a major consideration in the development of the new Endurance SL with the new frameset generating up to 28.5% less drag compared to the previous generation.
Aerodynamic drag saving features include,
Truncated aerofoil down tube
Aero fork blade profile
Truncated aerofoil seat tube and seat post
Internal cable routing
Optional aero one piece cockpit enabling all cables to be routed internally and away from the airflow generating over 40% less drag compared to a conventional bar and stem set up (disc brake version has all cables completely hidden and caliper brake just the front brake cable).
Power transfer and torsional stiffness have been taken into account through the tapered downtube, oversize BB area and box section chainstays ensuring that your power wattage is efficiently transferred to forward motion. The tapered fork steerer, oversize headtube area and fork profile ensure that front end stiffness is taken care for out of the saddle efforts.
Comfort through road surface impact and vibration absorption is very important in an Endurance bike and the specific shapes and profiles of the seat stays, seat post and carbon cockpit ensure that the Endurance SL is smooth and comfortable over rough road surfaces and long distances.
The SL frameset has discreet mudguard mounts and tyre clearances for up to 32c tyres (model dependent) ensuring that the Endurance SL can be ridden in all season and weather conditions.
I’m new to road cycling. Very new in fact. I had entered into the London triathlon without a bike. So I wanted to do myself justice when the day comes.
I started my hunt for a bike at a few places, but they didn’t really strike a chord with me to be honest. They were either extremely expensive or not quite ticking all the boxes, I could not find the bike for me, anywhere.
I then stumbled across Ribble. I should have thought about them a long time ago, as I lived in Longridge (25 mins away from their Preston store) for 23 years. I asked a friend who has cycled for 8+ years and he actually had and still does own, a Ribble road bike. He said it is best thing he’s purchased and really worth the money. I scoured round on the Internet and was hit with more positivity.
I took a trip to the Preston showroom and asked a million and one questions, but I’m new to cycling so I had to start from scratch. Every question was answered really well, kudos to the man who helped me, he knew his stuff. I priced up my Endurance SL Disc in the showroom and then waited for my Cycle to Work to be processed.
I was kept up to date on every step of my bikes journey. I collected it at Ribble’s Bluewater store as I live in London, it was all set up for me and I went on my way.
The bike is superb. Really solid, extremely light and looks perfect. I got mine in the Black Friday sale, so the colour was fixed, but I love it. As I said I’m new to road cycling so I have nothing to compare it to, but it feels like a fighter jet. The power transfer is top notch. It just flies.
I rode my SL for the first time today and it is superb. The carbon frame feels nice and stiff but supple enough to absorb the unevenness in normal road surfaces.
The hydraulic disc brakes are taught and responsive and gear changing is very positive.
As important as the first ride was the Ribble service when I went to buy the bike and then collect it at Bluewater. Both experiences were very good.
Martin spent time to ensure that I was measured thoroughly on your universal frame and that the spec we put together was right for me.
If I have remembered the name correctly, Morek set me up on the bike when I collected and adjusted the saddle and bars to suit. He also gave me a thorough briefing on the use of cleats as I was using them for the first time.
The Endurance SL R Series is our flagship carbon endurance bike, this high-performance frameset is superlight (frame sub 900g) and the truncated aerofoil profile of the tubes makes it the lightest and one of the fastest packages that we offer.
The latest iteration of the highly successful and test winning R872 (Winner of Cycling Weekly and Cycling Plus 'Best on Test' Awards). The versatile ‘sportive’ geometry results in a bike equally well suited to epic century rides, fast commutes or for beginners looking to tip their toe into the world of road racing.
