WHO IS THE
ENDURANCE SL DISC FOR?
With its impeccable performance, versatility and a multitude of wheel, component and finishing kit options the Endurance SL and SL R Series can be fine-tuned for all riders of all levels of experience and ability.
The serious racer whether Elite or local hero will appreciate the frames stiffness and power transfer. The built-in aerodynamic tech, builds tipping the scales below the UCI weight limit and disc and caliper brake options mean the Endurance SL platform offers a performance advantage in all race situations.
The Endurance rider will benefit from the race bike attributes designed into the frame and will also see gain from the comfort-enhancing and fatigue-reducing features ensuring that they can go further, higher and quicker whether all day Epic or Weekend Gran Fondo.
Fitness and Leisure riders can experience the feeling you only get from a high-end race bike but with the geometry and fit required to achieve a comfortable and efficient riding position. The platform's comfort, stability, handling, and braking performance will inspire confidence making the Endurance SL the perfect partner as you develop your riding ability. Ride further, comfortably with less fatigue, make light work of hills, as you progress to experience longer rides over more challenging terrain.
THE SL DISC
The SL Disc frameset is manufactured from a carefully selected blend of Toray’s T1000 and T800 carbon layered to an exacting specification using an advanced monocoque mould technology incorporating an EPS inner core system which ensures complete consistency of the structural integrity of the fibres and resin throughout the frame. This system also eliminates excess material on the inside of the frame.
Aerodynamics have been a major consideration in the development of the new Endurance SL with the new frameset generating up to 28.5% less drag compared to the previous generation.
Aerodynamic drag saving features include,
Truncated aerofoil down tube
Aero fork blade profile
Truncated aerofoil seat tube and seat post
Internal cable routing
Optional aero one piece cockpit enabling all cables to be routed internally and away from the airflow generating over 40% less drag compared to a conventional bar and stem set up (disc brake version has all cables completely hidden and caliper brake just the front brake cable).
Power transfer and torsional stiffness have been taken into account through the tapered downtube, oversize BB area and box section chainstays ensuring that your power wattage is efficiently transferred to forward motion. The tapered fork steerer, oversize headtube area and fork profile ensure that front end stiffness is taken care for out of the saddle efforts.
Comfort through road surface impact and vibration absorption is very important in an Endurance bike and the specific shapes and profiles of the seat stays, seat post and carbon cockpit ensure that the Endurance SL is smooth and comfortable over rough road surfaces and long distances.
The SL frameset has discreet mudguard mounts and tyre clearances for up to 32c tyres (model dependent) ensuring that the Endurance SL can be ridden in all season and weather conditions.
My first carbon bike w disc...it did not disappoint. The weight was not as light as I imagined vs my aluminum bike. First 30 mi ride climbing the hills and doing fast flat was very smooth and enjoyable with solid frame feel and yet not too stiff, even offering some cushion from 28mm tires. Power transfer from crankset was immediate and Shimano 105 was noticeably smooth but the disc brakes were just amazing with assuring stopping power. Overall, even with some initial communication issues and delivery, the bike setup was not complicated and it's a great bike. Looks pretty good too.
Coming from and aluminium frame, this is quite incredible. Stiff, responsive frame. While not super light, I found it to be really impressive on the hills. Just munched them up.
The teal colour is lovely. Though it’s more a turquoise. In my opinion. Regardless, it’s a lovely statement colour.
I’m very happy I got the disc version. Winter is coming, so it’s going to be even more invaluable. The costs difference may seem large. But don’t be put off. Get the disc.
There’s still plenty for me to get used to - especially as I dial in the fit. But that means it’s only going to get better.
There is perhaps a couple of areas for slight improvement on fit and finish (hood over seat post, finishing where cables are chased in). But honestly, these are very minor things.
All said and done, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
General note - get a torque wrench, like suggested. I found the seat post slipping and had to crank it up to 9nm. If I didn’t have a torque wrench, I would have risked taking it too far and doin damage. Topeak do a decent one for £13. @ribble - maybe add an option to your store.
The Endurance SL R Series is our flagship carbon endurance bike, this high-performance frameset is superlight (frame sub 900g) and the truncated aerofoil profile of the tubes makes it the lightest and one of the fastest packages that we offer.
