Pre-register now for great new Ribble-supported sportive - Vélo South
Vélo South is a brand new 100-mile closed road sportive and, like its successful sister ride Vélo Birmingham, it is being proudly backed by Ribble as official bike partner. The ride is guaranteed to sell out though so you need to act now if you want to ride. The Vélo team have designed a stunningly scenic and testing traffic-free challenge through the South Downs National Park that will be tackled by 15,000 riders of all abilities on Sunday 23rd September 2018. The start, finish and event centre of Vélo South will be at the famous Goodwood Motor Circuit in Hampshire and though lacking in mountain climbs the route will thread through the beautiful rolling landscape of the South Downs and take in a number of testing climbs including Harting Hill. There will be 1,700 metres of ascent and the route takes in some of the roads raced in the World Road Race Championships in 1982.
Register your interest now
Act fast though – you must pre-register your interest on www.velosouth.com before Thursday March 1st. At 9am on Thursday March 1st all pre-registered cyclists will be emailed a link to complete their entry. The 15,000 available spaces will be sold on a first come first served basis so the earlier you complete your entry details and checkout the better your chance!
“A century ride is a huge accomplishment”
Vélo Series ambassador and ex-England rugby player Martin Johnson CBE is also excited by the new ride. “As a cycling fanatic and having ridden the inaugural Vélo Birmingham, I know first-hand how exhilarating it is to ride on closed roads and I can’t wait to be one of 15,000 riders lined up at Goodwood in September.” For anyone who has doubts about tackling their first 100-mile ride, Johnson has this advice, “I speak from experience when I say that with the right training it’s an extremely achievable goal. Completing a century ride is a huge accomplishment and the feeling when you cross the finish line will be worth all the hard work.”
