Shimano’s Tiagra 10 speed groupset, matched with Mavic Aksium wheels and Schwalbe Marathon tyres is a tried and tested combination that offers exceptional reliability and durability throughout the seasons. The superior modulation and braking performance of disc brakes provide added confidence and control over any terrain and in any conditions. With a generous tyre clearance and the additional versatility provided by mudguard and racks mounts the CGR AL excels as an all-season commuter, light tourer or gravel bike.

Bike of the Year Finalist

Shimano’s Tiagra 2x10 speed sets the benchmark when it comes to value, performance and durability. Featuring the same technology as it’s top-tier siblings, Tiagra provides the same peerless shifting performance, reliability and durability that have made Shimano the ‘go to’ choice for commuters and leisure riders alike.

Mavic Aksium wheels provide legendary reliability and durability with sealed bearings helping to keep the worst of the elements at bay. Schwalbe Marathon tyres are the final word when it comes to puncture resistance and grip in all conditions.

The finishing kit consists of a complete matched set of LEVEL 1 alloy handlebars, stem and seatpost. A foam padded Prologo Kappa RS saddle and Level cork tape provide additional comfort in the contact areas and the finishing touch is a set of full coverage mudguards for improved all-weather capability.

Having decided that I wanted the opportunity to ride anywhere and really take advantage of the local roads, lanes, byways and bridleways I decided that a do anything bike was required. Having been looking through the plethora of bikes that can do this I decided to go with Ribbles CGR AL. Being new to this type of riding I tentively went with a budget option, which I was a little concerned about. I needn’t have worried, the bike is absolutely fantastic. Rides and handles incredible well and just handles any terrain thrown on it. Would absolutely recommend
Replacing a steel-framed cross bike with hub gears, this is a bit of a change. Very pleased with the CGR - kind of does what it says on the tin - a bike for all seasons.

Well built, feels good quality and value for money. With 35mm tyres the ride is comfortable and forgiving, pleasantly surprised as I was expecting a more noticeable change from my steel frame.

Pleased with contemporary Tiagra groupset - shifting definitely on a par with my 105 groupset from 3 years ago. Mechanical disks a bit disappointing (my first disk brakes) - feel like I got better modulation and general stopping power from my well-set V-brakes, but they are improving a bit as they bed in.

I'm 6ft 3, XL frame seems about the right size for a relatively relaxed position - can ride the hoods semi-upright (90% of my urban cycling), but tuck a little if speeding up. If you have a particularly short body/arms, or want a significantly more upright riding position, you could consider a size down.

Of note there was a bit of delay on delivery, but Ribble kept me well updated, and offered a genuine apology. Bit of cliché, but would certainly recommend the CGR-AL if you want a bit of a do-it-all - pleased with my purchase.
