Today was my first proper ride due to bad weather and wanting to get the correct saddle on.
Simply I loved it. I found the geometry matches my other bikes (relaxed sportive and one is another Ribble) so it didn’t take too long to get it set up correctly. On the first ride today the bike felt very responsive and comfortable. I need to drop the pressure in the tyres a little but even on bumpy local lanes it was a nice ride. This is my first bike with disc brakes and I found them similar in slowing me down to my normal rim brakes. I rode for 75 mins on a familiar loop that is about 15 miles and includes about 1500ft of climbing. I spent most of the time in Assist level 1 only going upto level 2 and 3 for the climbs. It made the whole run very pleasing. I still felt that I had to work hard but when its more rewarding when you do as the bike responds well. I am currently well over my ideal cycling weight but easily managed PBs on all the climbs.
I downloaded the app on my iPhone and it linked easily to the bike. When I got back after this ride the battery was still at 62% so I think a three hour ride in a mix of the assist levels is certainly possible. I found the instructions for the motor controls a little annoying. In their attempt to be suitable for all languages they actually don’t give enough information in any. That would be my only gripe.
First ride and impressions 5 stars. Went out in storm Bella today just to get a spin, ran great, I have specced bike out with the challenge grinder tires and surprisingly they seem fast even past the motor assist cut out. Motor assist is smooth. Extremely comfortable to ride albeit I’ve only done a short ride so far.
