No, pedal assisted electric bikes do not require you to hold a valid driver’s licence, pay tax or take out insurance.

Ribble CGR AL e Customer Reviews
Did not buy this bike for the pedal assistance for immediate use, but for the future. At the moment as a 70 yr old, I can still manage well enough without, but I know in the future the assistance will be used.
So this assessment of the bike is just as unassisted.
Very comfortable bike to ride, great handling, superb braking efficiency, great gear ratios and shifting. No complaints at all, and great value for money, compared with other equivalents.
Altogether a great touring/ pleasure ride bike.
Only criticism, some of the welds on the frame could do with tidying up, and polished to smooth.
That’s it, I would recommend Ribble to anyone, and I got great advice from the staff at the Leeds showroom. Thanks
