Shimano’s 105 groupset is the entry point into 11-speed shifting and has established itself as the benchmark for shifting efficiency and performance. This is in no small part thanks to the exceptionally smooth, precision shifting performance and incredible value. With the addition of Mavic’s ever-reliable Aksium wheelset, this ensures maximum reliability as well as long term durability. With a generous tyre clearance plus mudguard and rack compatibility, the CGR AL is designed to excel both on or off-road and across a variety of surfaces.
Shimano 105 benefits from technology and features trickled down from its premium tier siblings and makes this ‘pro level’ shifting performance more accessible. Shimano’s own 105 hydraulic disc brakes are supremely powerful with superior modulation for complete braking confidence.
The Mavic Aksium wheelset's impressive strength to weight ratio, reliability and durability make them an obvious choice for any multi-terrain bike. Schwalbe G-One tyres are fast-rolling and versatile, a minimalist pimple tread pattern provides impressive grip across a range of terrains and surfaces.
The finishing kit is an all LEVEL affair consisting of LEVEL 1 alloy handlebars and stem with a lightweight Level 2 carbon seatpost. Completing the build and providing additional comfort in the contact areas is a foam padded Prologo Kappa RS saddle and cushioned Level cork tape, added protection from the elements is provided in the form of a set of Ribble full coverage mudguards.

As soon as I saw the Orange CGR on Ribble.co.uk, I wanted it for my winter/ commuter bike. This is my second Ribble and I had no doubt it would perform well. My first commute yesterday was exciting and fast - the speed and handling blew me away both on road and off and I strangely hit new PB's on routes I've been riding for years. I thought riding on 40s would slow me down and not make me competitive on the morning race commute. I was so wrong, 40’s has given me a massive confidence boost, I no longer need to worry about potholes giving me snake bites, cornering on damp roads and with the added bonus of disc brakes, I can enjoy the ride carefree knowing I can stop instantly when cars choose to ignore me or pull out on me.
I’ve been waiting to mix my commute up via gravel path and MTB tracks to get away from the rush hour traffic. Last night’s ride gave me a new experience I haven’t had since my early mountain bike days. Having this CGR has given me so many options to ride on or off road given my mood. This bike is great looking, solid, light, fast and super comfortable. I no longer need to worry about what the weather is doing as I have full confidence in this CGR to handle anything that is thrown at it!
Purchased a Ribble CGR. Really wanted a jack of all trades bike with mudguard mounts for winter riding as well as my daily commute. I had some concerns buying direct with sizing and lived to far away for a showroom visit. I wrote several emails to Ribble and had the same contact throughout those discussions. My contact was excellent and physically measured pieces of the bike so i could make sure i got my sizing right - i couldn't have asked for more. The option to return if not correct was the final tick in the box for me. Waited a small amount of time for delivery and received emails confirming build and delivery date. It was shipped via Parcel force and there was a problem with the delivery - they claimed it happened but it hadn't - again Ribble to the rescue and all was sorted. They don't call them Parcel Farce for nothing.
Bike was a piece of cake to setup (all but finished for you) and I've dialled it in to my preferred position. Ride is spot on, exactly what i wanted but most importantly fit is perfect (i use reach and stack to decide - I don't use any manufacturers recommendation - i know what suits me). The bike is currently running 700x25 tyre and the 40mm gravel versions are off for now but i like i have the option to switch back when i want - the bike design allows it to fulfil its cross, gravel, road remit. I run 3 sets of disc brake wheels and it allows me to switch back and fore depending on what type of riding I'm doing.
Cant fault the bike or Ribble (won't hold the postage issue against them but id recommend they review who they use). Would I buy a Ribble again or recommend? - definitely yes.
