Got my bike ahead of schedule, thanks Ribble. It is so much fun on the hills now I don't have to worry if I will get up them....with the extra assistance it's great.
The bike, after the problems outlined below were overcome, is excellent and comes up to all my expectations. I have yet to determine whether the battery assistance will last when used over the hilly terrain that I usually cycle in but I remain optimistic on that score.

The delivery process was far from ideal, though. I originally ordered the bike in April with an expected delivery date of July 7th. After several changes of delivery date it eventually came on 2nd September. The only problem was that I was away on holiday at the time. I had been in contact with Ribble a few days earlier and specifically requested that the bike was not delivered between certain dates but this information was either not read or ignored. It is a bit much to send out a bike 4 months after the original order date and just expect somebody to be available to take delivery. I got a phone call from the delivery driver and had to agree to the bike being left around the back of my house. I then had to contact a friend and get him to go round and collect my new bike and take it home with him to store in his garage. This is far from ideal.

When I collected my bike a week later it had a flat tyre! This turned out to be a faulty inner tube which I had to replace. When you pay good money for a bike assembled with quality components you expect quality inner tubes to be used too. The ones used by Ribble are about half the price of those I would normally buy.

There is a Ribble U-Tube video describing how to unbox and assemble your new bike. It is not specific though, to a bike with the Level 5 integrated handlebars which mine had. When trying to fit these with the bike held in a work stand as recommended in the video the head set separated and proved very difficult to get back together again as the internal cables kept causing a problem. I found another Ribble video just describing assembly of the integrated bars and this talked about fitting the steerer bung - I didn’t seem to have this part in my pack. Further online investigation came up with a 3rd party video which suggested that the steerer bung was already in place but covered in so much grease so that it wasn’t obvious. This turned out to be the case and I eventually got everything assembled correctly. I had not come across this head set system before and so clearer instructions from Ribble for specific bike systems with videos showing the relevant parts in close up so that you can see exactly what is being done to which part would have helped to make this assembly process easier and less stressful! I shouldn’t have had to do extensive online searching to work everything out.

All this aside, I am really pleased with the end result albeit that I have only had a chance to ride it for about 20 miles so far. I just hope that Ribble will take note of this review and improve their delivery process and supply clearer, more specific videos with all the information needed to finish off the bike assembly all in one place.
