Some small adjustments en route to tighten the stem to prevent slipping, but aside from that, a perfect build.
Unbelievably light frame, and impressive gear shifting (Shimano Tiagra group set).
Bottle cages didn’t arrive with the frame, as originally ordered, but easily rectified with some parts from my local bike shop.
Overall, a pleasure to ride on flats and climbs - felt stable and secure bombing it on descents - disc brakes a worthwhile upgrade for the soon to come wet weather.
Still no sign of the care package promised, but delighted never-the-less that this build turned up in time to enjoy some late summer rides.
The bike looks fantastic and is tremendous value for money, however there has been a number of niggles which has marred the overall experience for me.
Firstly, and this is partly down to my own experience of cycling.Coming from a super comfy lightweight carbon XC MTB, I found the 872 pretty firm. And frankly my idea specifying Gatorskins to the build was a bad choice, it just amplified the firm aspect of ride. I've since ditched those Gatorskins and fitted some 32mm Viittoria Zaffiro Pro's - what a difference. And by the way, 32mm tyres fit just fine - the rims can take them and there is still clearance.
There are two other simple fixes that would make this bike just perfect.
Super annoying internal cable routing - They rattle like mad, but I've sorted this myself with some cable ties.
And the noise from these wheels is appalling - on the rough roads of Edinburgh, listening to the constant 'ting' noise coming from the spokes is not great to be honest - I wonder if my wheels are from a bad batch. Need to try some lube on nipples or something.
And just a point on the Ribble service. The website is superb and the buying experience was close to faultless.
Overall it's a stunning looking bit of kit, but sort out these QC issues I'm sure next time it would 5/5.
