Ribble Sportive Racing Disc

Ribble Sportive Racing Disc

Versatile Disc braked Sportive Bike

With a Toray T700/T800 carbon frameset, the Ribble Sportive Racing Disc is a highly versatile road bike which is the perfect choice for challenging sportives.

This disc brake version - using the very latest flat mount disc brakes - of one of our best-selling bikes adds in unbeatable stopping power and ‘future-proofness’. The Sportive Racing has already showed its class leading ability and value-for-money to win the Cycling Plus Magazine ‘Bike of the Year’ Award in the ‘Best Value’ category and now it comes with discs brakes!

“The Sportive Racing does what it says on the tin – it’s a bike designed to thrive whether riding a sportive or a road race.” RoadCyclingUK

The Sportive Racing Disc has the same frame triangle up front as the regular Sportive Racing, but the rear triangle and fork have been reworked and now have mudguard eyelets and clearance for 28mm tyres, further increasing the bike’s versatility and perfect for adding a bit more comfort or tackling slightly rougher terrain like cobbles.

The Sportive Racing Disc – with it’s ‘bumble bee’ colour scheme - perfectly combines comfort and tenacity. It has balanced design elements for sportive and endurance riding and racing with a taller head tube for longer rides and a race-orientated rear triangle. Riders are thrilled with how the Sportive Racing bikes handle – it offers a responsive, fast, well positioned and comfortable ride.

It features new tubing profiles - to increase stiffness where you need it - using Toray’s top T700/T800 carbon fibre to work in unison with the tapered head tube and carbon fork steerer. The bottom bracket is a press fit design which increases the power transfer from pedals to rear wheel.

Naturally, the frame is Di2 and electronic groupset ready and has internal cable routing. At the back of the frame the larger wishbone seat stay increases the responsiveness and stiffness of the frame making the bike accelerate as soon as you get out of the saddle.

Disc brakes on road bikes have come a long way and the big boys - Shimano and SRAM - have got it right with the very latest flat mount design calipers. The disc calipers are now the same size as rim brake calipers and so very similar in weight. The front disc caliper fits snugly behind the fork blade and the rear fits on top of the chainstay giving the bike a really clean look.  If you are buying a disc road bike it has to have ‘Flat Mount’.  Along with the flat mount disc the Sportive Racing Disc comes with 12mm front and rear through axles and a really nice way to keep your bum dry…

If you want to fit (and remove) mudguards this frame has a really nice design feature so you can fit mudguards – the dropout takes two bosses that can have mudguard eyes screwed into the frame - and this great feature changes the bike into an ideal winter training bike or commuter.

Also available in stealth black or racing green with rim brakes, the Sportive Racing Disc is one of the flagship disc brake bikes in a new generation of Ribble bikes – this bike is the future and you can experience this new technology now and stay ahead of the rest of the pack.

NB. This frame has mounts for full coverage mudguards to be fitted. View our range of mudguards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What type of bike is the Sportive Racing?
A: The Sportive Racing is designed to handle just like our race orientated bikes, but it has a taller head tube and a shorter reach to the bars for added comfort.
Q: What kind of geometry does this bike have?
A: This bike has the fit geometry of an endurance frame, with the handling geometry of a race bike. A shorter wheelbase and steeper head angle give an exciting and responsive ride while the taller head tube and shorter top tube mean no more sore back in the saddle.
Q: What type of riding is it best suited for?
A: This bike will do most of what you can throw at it – Big sportives? Local road race? Club ride? The Sportive Racing will have no problems tackling them all and you’ll still feel fresh at the end due to the endurance fit.
Q: What is the frame made of and what does it weigh?
A: The frame weighs 1060 grams (size small) and is constructed with high quality, industry leading, Toray carbon.
Q: Do I need disc brakes?
A: Disc brakes provide better stopping power in all conditions, especially in the wet. They give more control and better modulation. One other important point is that discs allows you to run a larger tyre, leading to more comfort and cornering grip.
Q: What is the widest tyre that can be fitted?
A: 28mm.
Q: Is there a maximum rider weight for this bike?
A: We base this on the weight limit for most wheels of 95 kg.
Q: Does the bike come with pedals?
A: No, pedals are a personal choice. We offer a wide range here.
Q: What is the warranty of the frame and what does it cover?
A: The frame has a three year warranty against manufacturing defects. All other parts have the manufacturer’s standard warranty.

Ribble Sportive Racing Disc Customer Reviews

The same spec bike from a mainstream manufacturer would have cost £500-£1000 more. The bike is very well built, stable, fast, comfortable. The details are lovely: mudguard mount screws dont face outwards (they face backward) so the fork lines are kept neat. Cable routjng is all super tidy. Very happy.

went for sportive racing as good all rounder and not disapointed. bike accelerates well and is comfortable over long periods in saddle. zero 1 bars do transmit vibration and I needed better mitts. ultegra discs are awesome and have saved me from crashes on several occasions (I ride in Oman where the locals are not use to cyclists!). wheelset of mavic off-road suits the poor roads and the heavier rider (that's me!). overall very pleased.
