Brilliant hybrid electric bike. Range extender ups battery power to 500 watts. More than enough for a good day outBought the hybrid electric and was delighted. On the first free tune up Ribble even respirated a large area where the bike had rubbed against my wife’s on the Motorhome rack. Going the initial battery slightly lacking for a long day out so bought the ancillary battery. Brilliant

Good, if expensiveWorks very well in conjunction with the Endurance SL-E. More sophisticated than a simple 'add-on battery', it intelligently charges the main bike battery whilst in use. Looks like a drinks bottle, so preserves the discretion of the SL-E having electric assistance. Make the SL-E a real "all-day" with assistance machine. Shame it is so expensive!

Great productThis product squares the circle for me and my e-bike. It makes all of the difference to have this additional battery and it has enabled me to ride in the Alps again. I found the people I spoke to at Ribble to be very nice and very helpful. When they said they would get back to me, they did.

- This looks neat but will there be a trailing cable running from the top of the battery to the bottom bracket socket on the bike which will not look so neat? How does the extender connect to the bike's inbuilt battery?
-
Hi,
Thanks for your query,
The extender charges the main battery so plugs into the charging socket by way of a short cable which runs from the bottom of the battery. The Iwoc button to activate the extender is located on the top of the battery hence the cable running from the bottom instead.

- Can you charge the extender on its own away from the bike?
-
Hi,
Thanks for your question,
Yes the extender can be removed easily from the bottle cage is sits within and just plugs into household mains sockets.

My wife has the Colnago E64 which uses the Ebikemotion X35 motor.
Will this extender work with the Colnago? -
Thanks for your query
Yes, the Extender is the same for all current Ebikemotion X35 systems, and so this would be fine to use with the Colnago E64

- I have been told that the bike cannot be ridden in cold weather. Is this correct? if so what are the limits?
-
Hi David,
Thanks for getting in touch,
It's not that you cannot ride it in the cold but rather that when ridden outside of normal operating temperatures you will experience diminished range from the battery. It's the same with any Li-Ion batteries, if they are too hot or too cold they do not perform at peak capacity. For instance Shimano advise you not to leave a DI2 equipped bike in direct sunlight for a period of time, say outside at a cafe stop as the battery will become too hot and lose some of it's capacity as a result. The bike will work in colder temperatures but the range will not be quite as good.

- Does this fit the specialized levo 2019 hardtail
-
Hi,
Thanks for your enquiry,
The range extender is only compatible with bikes equipped with the ebikemotion hub driven motor system. The Levo does not use this system so the extender will not work.
